Is #duckduckgo your default search engine?
Then, if you use #OpenStreetMap a lot, you might find it interesting thing to know that there are #bangs focused on OSM that you can simply type in your browser's search bar
!osm <something> - search for "something" in OSM.
!osmw <something> - search the OSM wiki (very good results!)
!taginfo <something> check for taginfo data about tagas or key/key-value pair
!otw <something> data mining query with #Overpass
and more!
Told you

This is a geofence warrant. In this example, the FBI asked Google for the identifying information of all Android users who might have attended one particular Black Lives Matter protest in Seattle. Google coughed it up.

@ehashman @needle@weirder.earth planet money covered this pretty well, not too long ago: https://www.npr.org/2020/09/11/897692090/how-big-oil-misled-the-public-into-believing-plastic-would-be-recycled
@dos @holypangolin followed! a mastodon link on holypangolin.itch.io would also be handy to know of the fediverse presence (currently just mentions fb and twitter)
Evidence that you are a fictional character: / 1. Regular and implausible outlandish coincidences / 2. Obvious plot holes in the worldbuilding / 3. Unusual gaps in your memory, as if periods of low narrative interest were "timeskipped" / 4. Branded or trademarked items in the environment seem lazy, hastily constructed or self-parodic, such as a social network whose posts are called "toots"
@brennen it's not paranoia if it's true...
@mhoye are you sure? "keeping" implies "was at least once"
@brennen quite some overlap with HAM radio operators
@cincodenada @brennen I have a similar memory... Istr it being very large inside. Perhaps this is a berenstein/berenstain thing
A #library is a great example of an institution where humans collaborate with each other for motives beyond profit. It is a place where it is easy for everyone to understand how our relationships with strangers can be more than mere commercial transactions.
A library is, in a way, an #anarchist space dedicated to knowledge.
It has rules and we observe them out of respect, not fear.
It has experts whose authority is not arbitrary, but knowledge based.
A library is a sanctuary from capitalism.
@servingworlds @gnomon @dfraser @mhoye Snikket.
Also waiting for Matrix to be less painful to use.
Just tested: The #SteamDeck actually serves as a pretty decent development system when I don't want to bring an additional notebook.
(Nothing here is particularly unexpected ofc. The deck is a powerful PC running linux. So its basically what I daily drive, with a smaller screen. Git came preinstalled, AS worked out of the box installed from the tarball from the android site.)
#Nitter is an AGPLv3 licensed #Twitter frontend with all the features of the default site -- but more importantly -- it returns all of the freedom that Twitter's nonfree JavaScript takes away from you. Try it out! https://nitter.net
I doubt anyone from @PINE64 is listening but now that the iPod Touch is being discoed I would love a device to replace it-- small, wifi only/no cell, camera, etc. Listen to music, use as a mobile device, take pictures. That's kind of all I need. I can tether to a phone if I need to. There was talk about a similar device a while back but it sounds like it got ditched, maybe the demise of the Touch is enough to revisit it?
First longer ride with #jazda. Impressions:
- I need to show battery level. I don't know if it was fully charged
- it survived the entire ride
- it shut off after I got back, after almost 5 hours with GPS on
- when the wind is blowing, I'm going way slower than I thought :S
