@kotik I'd guess no. The engine would likely be tightly tied to the computer control (or brain). Like a lot of modern vehicles, once that's gone without an OEM replacement the vehicle is basically spare parts.
Might be able to reuse just the body of the transformer. Would have to put it on a new frame. But difficult to do that respectfully...
Friend: What’s your new address? I can come pick you up
Me: Thx, but I don’t want my address to end up on #facebook
Friend: What? I’m not giving it to FB. WTH?!
Me: Hum, you’ll probably add it to my contact on your phone. You gave Messenger and Whatsapp access to your contacts. So yeah if I give you my address there’s a good chance it’ll end up in a FB’s database.
Why is it so hard to protect one’s data these days? Is there a way for me to have ppl over without leaking my address?
I know most people here are not into JS libraries and frameworks but we're starting to see super cool projects for progressive enhancement. Things like Alpine (https://alpinejs.dev) or HTMX (https://htmx.org) treat HTML as a first class citizen and source of truth, it's refreshing an unobtrusive.
It's not clear to me whether running a company like Remington makes you into a fucking monster, or whether depraved assholes seek out companies like Remington to work for.
In 2012, a gunman entered Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton, CT, and murdered 20 children aged six and seven, and six staff members.

A great write-up (with an impressive sample) on using Fast Fourier Transforms for removing Moiré patterns from photo scans:

@cjd I thought that if Mozilla wanted to do some real good, making a FirefoxBook and getting those into schools would go a lot farther than their other side projects
@calculsoberic@mstdn.social @cjd nah, I'm waiting for the next generation turbo-diesel. Runs faster and longer!
Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it: this is a must-read for the Matrix community.

This is a great dive into how Google botched messaging for 15 years, and the table of contents BY ITSELF is a truly epic burn https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2021/08/a-decade-and-a-half-of-instability-the-history-of-google-messaging-apps/
Making a #sip call from the #calls app on the #librem5 (and yes audio worked ;) ). This is still a development version of gnome-calls. And work still needs to be done to make it more user friendly and integrated with other components. But hey it is progress :D
Credits go out to: @devrtz that has been working to add #sip on gnome-calls. Also the account on the phone is an jmp.chat account, shoutout to them as jmp.chat is an awesome service :D
we are a young couple of scientists who moved to the countryside to live in a more sustainable way and to realize our dreams.
We offer beautiful apartments in an historical tower in #Tuscany. We want to avoid platforms like Booking.com, Airbnb or Google for advertising.
We have also a big vegetable garden at guests' disposal where we experiment #permaculture.

@Gargron is this the right way to introduce an isolated instance?
Another lost treasure of the internet is the sci.electronics.repair FAQ.

Just look at this goddamn thing. Thousands and thousands of words, chock-full of battle tested wisdom, enough to help anyone with some motivation solve their problems. Zero monetization, zero bullshit. What ever happened to that Internet? I sure do miss it.

Probably the easiest option right now is buying a PinePhone or an /e/ degooglised phone, as they have their OSes preinstalled.
However, all these projects deserve support so that alternative phones can become as functional and as easy to use as possible.
