"Pleins d’objets « connectés » sont en panne partout dans le monde puisque le service de cloud AWS est en panne dans un ensemble de datacenter "us-east-1", qui est proposée par défaut il me semble lors de la création d'un projet AWS aux États-Unis."
@abbienormal @mntmn so then the pinephone for you (and then get to take advantage of the software funded by Librem5 development)?
I ordered as part of the crowd funding campaign, and have been strung along with slipping release dates for 3 years. Starting now, likely wouldn't order until they get the wrinkles out and iterate (probably "fir" batch, if they ever get there).
I don't have regrets, as the ecosystem needed a kickstart. Hopefully others join & produce
@jeremiah @Phaserune @purism or someone who understands that it takes more than hardware to create a viable phone. PinePhone gets to slurp up the software effort paid for by Purism for the Librem 5, and relies on community for the rest. The result is a phone that's cheap but not yet useful as a daily driver. They both fill a need. Those who can afford to, help to drive the ecosystem forward. Those who can't still have the low end option.
@ifixcoinops @ghostdancer yeah, but the US cup is 250 mL and the UK cup is "whatever holds liquid and is in the cupboard"
No matter how you may feel about fingerprint scanners on phones... this is a very impressive #PinePhone mod!

@mattl is Johnny 5 still alive?
@cstanhope do you dream of electric sheep?
@LeoSammallahti the coop model handles that (in at least some cases), if I understand you correctly. Not sure that a government run initiative would be more effective; too often the income gets reallocated in ways that are counter to the initial goal.
If you find an example of that working, though, I'd be very interested!
@LeoSammallahti it is a combination of people paying market rates, along with those that qualify for subsidized housing. What's the goal of the public housing you envision?

There may already be some in your community. If not, consider starting one! A lot of work, but valuable and rewarding.
@tobiasfdl contribute to https://www.opensubtitles.org/ then use a supported player to use them automatically
@isagalaev @ehashman have you watched "The Phantom Edit"? Much less Jar-jar, and generally less cringey.
@mhoye at a guess, the Lost in Orbit, Metal Head, and Wicked Awesome? All count as junk mail. (j/k. Not an IPA fan). Equilibrium and Cheeky Bastard are more my taste.
Oh, HP, never change.
First you tricked people with a fake "security update," that blocked cheap ink, then you invented rented ink, and now
you've redefined "free ink for life" to mean "$0.99/month, forever, or else."

Apple's anti-repair tactics on the new iPhone 12: https://youtu.be/FY7DtKMBxBw
Genuine parts swapped between brand new iPhone 12s won't work properly until swapped back.
Most likely explanation: Apple intentionally ensuring no one can self-repair or use a third party service. Not a new MO for them by any means.
Despicable behavior. Remember this source of e-waste when Apple pretends to care about the environment.

Some good news from the US elections today :)
And here's the sting in the tail: if you opt for "Amazon exclusive," you are locked in for SEVEN YEARS. Amazon silently made the switch to "no hassle returns" and clawed back half its creators' money, with no chance to opt out.
Amazon gets to change its deal with creators when it wants to, but the creators don't get to change their deal with Amazon. For seven years after they spend thousands to produce their own audiobooks, they are locked to Amazon, regardless of Amazon's policy changes.
