@cjd that's dedication to the Chromebook cause. Any reason you don't just use Crouton and get the GNU/Linux versions of these things?

@switchingsocial@mastodon.at @masterofthetiger@theres.life I'm using it on a Galaxy S7. As you said, it's likely the least bad option for nontechnical folks. The main proprietary parts I've noticed so far are the Maps application (actually "Magic Earth") and the "Apps" version of the app store that includes and promotes proprietary applications by default.
That said, there is no better shipping option that I've found. Once the LibreM 5 or the PinePhone are released that might change

so, now you've spent around $150 for your computer, phone, and games. buying these refurbished keeps waste from the landfills. they are all really well supported and the computer has tons of replacement parts available on the cheap so you can repair it if anything breaks instead of throwing it away

for a computer, i use a Lenovo Thinkpad T430. You can get one of these on ebay for around $80. I replaced the harddrive in mine for an SSD so that ended up costing a little bit more, but now it runs about the same as a macbook air.

@erikstl @reclus @switchingsocial@mastodon.at street number data may be there but OsmAnd doesn't do interpolation of it. It only finds the start and end street numbers.
Other OSM interfaces will take the length and for a number in the even/odd sequence calculate how far along that the house number likely is.
