To be *very* clear on this: nazi's aren't welcome on #Fosstodon. And yes we unfortunately disagree on what makes someone a nazi. While having mid views and calling for good behaviour from both sides can be unhelpful (because we don't want to shift the Overton window to the center and thereby normalize the right, as if both sides are the same. They're not: the left protects people that the right wants to harm), it doesn't make someone a nazi, just uninformed.

@pixplz Admin here; anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment has no place on Fosstodon. This moderator (prior to becoming a moderator) had personal account filters on their account to curate their timeline to focus on technology, as is their right to do as a user.

Choosing to opt-out of LGBTQ+ discussions does not make one anti-LGBTQ+.

A larger team conversation was had around content filters for staff, and we collectively decided that staff should remove existing filters.

@pixplz Any user on the fediverse has the right to filter and curate their own timelines how they please, that's a cornerstone of the fediverse and open social networks.

We have different standards for our moderation team to effectively moderate the instance, and filters work against that.
