The kids want to have #Minecraft accounts, but Microsoft has made the process so painful and time consuming to setup accounts for children, that after burning way too much time and not getting to a successful ending I gave up. Offline play only for now.
And also looking into #minetest to avoid the whole thing.
They really know how to kill enthusiasm for a thing.

Make sure to set up some nice plugins, the base game is (by design) extremely basic and boring. :)
