made the first apple pie of fall last night. used apples from home and a few from a tree in a Maine trail parking lot. I'm not a fast apple peeler so it takes me forever but the end result is so worth it.

@keverets that's a neat little tool. I try not to buy single-purpose kitchen stuff to avoid clutter, though. for 2-3 pies a year I can just keep working on my paring knife speed.

@dthompson I can definitely appreciate that. I avoid single use tools as much as possible too. If it helps, we also use ours for potatoes (and a couple of times for vegetable based pasta substitutes, but this is admittedly rare).

If hand peeling isn't too much of a chore, then less stuff is more better :)
