Ugh. I really wish there were some other #activitypub and #fediverse servers that weren't so... twitter-esque. I'm not sure if it's a limitation of ActivityPub or just something that not a whole lot of others have really wanted, but having more of a community feel and less real-time-timeline-of-everything is something I'd certainly prefer. Maybe someday I'll write something, but I'd just need to put that on the pile of all the other unfinished projects or concepts I have.
@keverets I played with HubZilla for a bit, which I think is by the original creator of Friendica. It did a lot of weird stuff with regard to ActivityPub that couldn't be disabled, so I wasn't a huge fan of it (plus no apps). And I think Pixelfed is mostly based around sharing images? I'm not sure exactly what it is I want, other than just having something that's more catch-up-at-the-end-of-the-day and not necessarily view everything in realtime.
