So far, I think I could use this Macbook to do some light text editing but nothing more. Even that's a stretch, though, because I can't fucking stand the keyboard.

@amolith A lot of the web developer consultants that I work with prefer using a Mac for Angular/React/Vue/etc development over using Windows for the same.

Personally, I'd use Linux for this type of development, but if my only choices were between Mac and Windows ... I would also pick the Mac.

@kcoram Between Windows and Mac, I really have no idea which I would pick. I haven't ever tried to do any real work on Windows but having a UNIX env a couple keystrokes away out of the box is a big point on Apple's side.

Between Mac, Windows, and Linux, Linux wins every time hands down lol

@amolith @kcoram Personally I prefer the actual Mac operating system over Windows, but I prefer the application availability of Windows over Mac. Linux is the best of both worlds.

@robby @kcoram
That's kind of where I'm leaning right now. macOS itself is much better than Windows.

However, I do feel like Linux is just superior in general. It has more applications and tools than I'll ever need that do exactly what I want and nothing more. The only thing it's missing is game support and that's why I dual-boot Windows, however infrequently :<

@amolith @kcoram its made huge leaps in gaming in the last two years though! There is only one game that I wish I could play on Linux. Otherwise most of my Steam library runs just as well as Windows, or I never really plan to play anyways (ie random humble bundle extras).

@amolith @robby I totally agree. Happily, things like Proton and Vulkan are bringing more and more games to Linux, so I have less and less of a need to worry about keeping Windows for gaming.

Converting my family to use Linux instead is a challenge, though. . .

@kcoram @robby
Yep. There are only a few games in my library that just don't work with Linux/Proton or that I haven't invested enough time into getting functional. I think the last time I booted into Windows was a week or two ago to play Destiny with a friend of mine :blobthink:

Converting my family was the easy part. I just said "mom, I'm going to install elementaryOS on your laptop!" :blobthinkingsmirk:

@amolith @robby @kcoram 70% of my Steam library has native Linux support and I have many hundreds of games there. Most of the rest is still playable using Proton.
