The (wearable) heart monitors in this hospital run on regular AA batteries, which don't last even 12 hours. Every day, twice a day, nurses are running around changing batteries. Fortunately, they have nothing better to be doing with their time. :/

And of course the batteries are branded MedCell. I'm sure they are very special.

@johns oh dear… if I didn't have proper expectations for reliability (including in situations like "patient drops monitor into toilet and forgos to mention it, but not before trying to dry it by placing it in front of a running hair drier for half an hour) and some awareness of certifications necessary for electronics to put into medical devices… this would be something where a LiIon rechargable in the AA form factor that includes the step-down converter would save some real money.
