The thing is, you select a particular proprietary project because you think it will be well-supported.
While Firefox users may be indifferent to it, it's an important part of the reading experience for many Kobo ereader users.
As for open source, the project "Omnivore" shuttered itself last year and sold itself off to some AI company.
@johns I often wonder what Mozilla would be line if they had put all of that Google money in an endowment and grown more slowly, without the kind of need for profits that has caused them to do things like Pocket and that VPN service.
