TIL that the Big and Little Dippers are not constellations. Quality liberal arts education I had.
@johns wow, I had not heard of an asterism* nor did I understand the modern conception of a constellation as a region and they don't overlap. Can't say I feel that bad about my education though, colloquial use seems just fine, both included in https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/constellation#Noun
