I guess I wasn't the only one to not know about this Google project to publish prior art, TDCommons: https://www.wired.com/story/google-tdcommons-dpub-patents-prior-art
@johns The skeptic in me says this website is as likely to help patent trolls identify "infringement" that the inventor was unaware of as it is to actually establish prior art.
(but also remember that Google has always refused to support efforts to actually abolish all software patents / make ideas implemented in software nonpatentable)
