@Ricotta
In Arkansas, the people can put it on the ballot themselves and vote it in.

I started thinking today, that each state needs to introduce at least two state constitutional amendments.
One amendment that requires a two thirds majority of the state legislature to declare a state of emergency.
Another amendment that simply states that even in times of emergency there is no such thing as essential or non-essential businesses.
We can't let our states get away with what they have done.

No matter how disastrously some policy has turned out, anyone who criticizes it can expect to hear: “But what would you replace it with?” When you put out a fire, what do you replace it with? twitter.com/ThomasSowell/statu

Governments have to lock down everything because the population can't be trusted to socially distance responsibly, they say?

I'll do you one better.

Can the population trust governments to be responsible in using "emergency powers" so broad and nearly unlimited in scope?

This is wrong.
Christianity is the worship of and following of Jesus.
Conservatism existed long before Trump and will continue after Trump. It is not based on him or his teachings.

The damage of shutting down the economy seems like it massively outweighs any damage the virus would have caused.

(apologies to Katrina and the Waves)

I used to think maybe you caught it, now baby I'm sure
And I just can't wait for a doctor to knock on my door
Now every time I get a new Prime box, gotta hold myself down
Cause I just gotta try the new treatment that's going around

Now I'm injecting sunshine, whoa
I'm injecting Clorox, whoa
I'm ingesting Lysol, whoa
And don't it feel good
Hey, all right now
And don't it feel good

> “In major parts of Sweden, around Stockholm, we have reached a plateau (in new cases), and we’re already seeing the effect of herd immunity, and in a few weeks’ time, we’ll see even more of the effects of that. And in the rest of the country, the situation is stable,” Dr.
