@foone Not entirely true. If the browser were invented today, it would be allowed until it got popular. Then it would be deemed a security risk three weeks before Apple released their own version.
@jlcrawf@foone They wouldn't be entirely wrong. I could imagine apple would have allowed mosaic-era browsers. But a few iterations of netscape later, things started to descend into chaos/terribleness. Today's browsers ? They can and do try to do so much, and try to beg for such direct machine access, and incorporate so much in their interpreters, there would be/history has shown us so many spectacular problems. Also... get off my lawn !
