So I'm trying to sell a cell phone on ebay, and it has been interesting. 2 hours after listing it, I had already received 10+ PMs asking me for the phone's IMEI.
I am reasonably confident that anyone with the IMEI could, at least in some places, report the phone as stolen and claim ownership of it, right?

I am not sure about that, but I know that with my carrier, I can input the imei number on their site tyo determine compatibility.
