It's weird that the square root of -1 is allowed to exist, but infinity is not

Unfortunately, no. infinity is an unreachable place. There are actually different sizes of infinity. For example, if I were to ask you how many even whole numbers there, the correct answer would be that there are an infinite number of them. The same can be said for the number of prime numbers. However, there are clearly more even numbers than prime numbers. So, while they are both infinite, one infinite set is larger than the other.
