Prices continue to rise, while economic activity in general continues to drop. That's stagflation, and it's what I predicted way back in 2020, and it's what we've got today.

People are struggling to not die, and they can't afford to spend money on frivilous things. I mean, some people are buying new smart phones, but a hell of a lot less than there were! (besides which, why would you buy a new smart phone? What specifically does a new phone have that a 5 year old or even 10 year old phone doesn't?)

For most people, a new smartphone has a new battery that will last more than a day, because if their phone is more than four years old without a replacable battery, the battery is dying.

Also, it has been shown that after two years, many of the manufacterers use updates to purposefully slow the phone down, to make them harder to use.

Sadly true.

My first phone was a Samsung Galaxy s1 SGH-i897. I ended up running cyanogenmod on it, and was able to drag it as far as jelly bean before it was just time for a new phone because back the. There really was a difference between 2-3 generations of smart phone. That phone actually got nicer to use over time because the newer versions of Android took advantage of more of the technology. gingerbread was sorta hot garbage and the original Android app store was worse.

Today most phones are so locked down that you can't even consider using something like lineageos.
