It's January 13th and it's currently 49°f. What have we done to mother earth?

@gardiner_bryant
"We" have not done anything. You may have, I am not sure. But "we" have not.
Just out of curiosity, exactly what temperature is supposed to be today?

@jlcrawf we, meaning the human race, caused the climate change catastrophe that is unfolding before our very eyes.

What temperature is it supposed to be today? Well, the historical average for January in Maine is 20°. It shouldn't be raining in January. And a 22° deviance is not a statistical anomaly.

Anthropogenic climate change is not up for debate. It's happening. Mankind has caused it. We continue to exacerbate it. For the profit for a select few.

Records for Maine on weather.gov only go back to 1941 as far as annual temperatures for today's date, so the average is based on less than 100 years average. That said 35 of those years have been below average and 48 have been above. Which means the below average years had to be more extreme than the above average years to keep 21.1 (according to weather.gov)

@gardiner_bryant
The coldest year on record for 1/13 in Maine was -5 (26 degrees below normal) in 1971. The warmest year on record before this year was 45 in 1972. So, yes this is the warmest 1/13 in Maine in The 83 years that we have records, but no, it is not aa significant as you make it out to be.
