I finally decided yesterday, that I am going to donate the entire check to something the government should have been spending its money on.
Border security is an actual legitimate role of government. (As opposed to most of the other things government spends money on.) As such, I am going to donate my entire government stimulus check to We Build the Wall.
In my own small way, I am going to divert government spending from a waste of funds to a legitimate government role.

I thought about something like that. But to be honest, before I did that, I would donate it to my church. The reason that I chose we build the wall is that they are fulfilling a function that is a legitimate role of government.
There are a lot places that do great things and that need money, but they should not necessarily be receiving government money.
While We Build the Wall is a private organization, what they are doing is what the government should be doing.
Ah,I didn't understand it's a private org building a wall. Carry on!
@AtlasFreeman
If I could, I would give it back to the government and earmark it to go straight to the national debt.
Since I can't do that, I am going to earmark it for something that is directly in the purview of the federal government.
@AtlasFreeman
I wanted to redirect the government money to a legitimate government project.

I appreciate your intentions but can I suggest that the physical wall isn't the long term solution? It's a bandaid. If there is going to be any meaningful change, it starts with people.
What if you instead donated that money to a free speech instance (https://freespeechextremist.com/ or https://www.liberdon.com for example) or a foundation like www.fee.org?
Imagine all the #thoughtcrime you could sponsor!
I would suggest it would do more to inspire and educate people than pay for materials.
