Gab is embracing the fediverse.

We are embracing open source.

We are embracing decentralization.

We are embracing freedom.

We welcome any fediverse developers who wish to help us do these things who are unhappy with the "leaders" of other projects.

@Andrew So people donated millions to you just so you could do what various Shitposters have been able to accomplish for free, I see..

@ChristiJunior @Andrew Bruh, can you just chill and celebrate that a company is changing their ways from using millions on proprietary software to embracing free and open source software for like five seconds. Sure, there's mistakes they've made in the past. But you gotta be willing to praise folks for doing the right thing and not just be looking for anything to bash someone on.

@SandiaMesa @Andrew

I've been on Gab for years and was rooting for the site until it became clear that:

- Torba is a liar who constantly breaks promises.

- Torba is an incompetent hack who keeps making the site worse and who keeps removing, not adding, popular features (Trending Hashtags, Gab TV, Live Topics and apparently soon Groups as well).

- Torba doesn't believe in free speech - he was chomping at the bit to ban Loli because it offended him, and decisively proved his distaste for free speech when he introduced the "disassociation" feature so that he could silence his critics and prevent them from even commenting on his posts.

- Torba is a greedy bastard who never misses a chance to force his users to work for free and fix his site for him, for example by refusing to hire Mods, and instead forcing Group admins to manually approve each and every comment made to posts in their groups.

And that's just some of it. Ask yourself - why are so many of Torba's biggest critics former Pro users?

I've never used gab, but I was rooting for it for a while.
This is why I like the idea of the fediverse so much better though. With the fediverse, there can never be one person that can censor, whether we agree with the censoring or not. If you want the censoring, you join a server that censors if not, then you don't.
