As an existing #mastodon user I am confused by #libremsocial. Why is the instance empty? Why do I need to search for everything? Feels empty in here!

It's not that it's empty. It is new so it may not be as full as other instances, though given that they have over 6,000 paid subscribers and who knows how many free subscribers, it's definitely not empty.
The difficulty finding people is by design. They wanted you to be able to opt into seeing what people posted, rather than be force free a stream of posts.
If you know people, it's not that hard because they can give you their username to search for. Making it a true social media.
