In the West, plastic drink bottles attract a mandatory deposit fee but here in Africa companies from those countries are against introduction of a deposit & return schemes and that's why we have a humongous challenge with plastic waste. If DRS is working in the west, it can work here too!
@jameswakibia @donmelton The problem, however, is that DRS for plastic is not working in the West. Plastic recycling is a lie (Google it).
The better solutions are to mandate glass or aluminum, use plant-based plastic when necessary, and burn plastic to make electricity.
