@jc @djb @nixCraft ideally yes, but not all PhD thesis do contribute any actual "new knowledge" to create any such dent. In fact, arguably many Master's thesis out there contribute just as much or even more than some PhD thesis.

@jc Back when I did helpdesk for a product that a lot of medical doctors used, this would've been fun for them to comprehend, instead of assuming the person they call doesn't have high enough IQ to tie their shoelaces.
