why can you not plug a usb cable in to two computers to transfer files

(This is based on assumption that USB4 can do what Thunderbolt 3 can do, which can do what Thunderbolt can do, whitch can do what Firewire can do which can transfer files between 2 computers.)
@jautero i only have usb-3 and usb-c 
@icedquinn I thought usb-3 is basically Thunderbolt 2, but apparently not.
