The centralization of #podcast hosting, mostly by PodBean (but also #soundcloud) has been a worrisome trend. It’s a damn shame #Funkwhale’s development has essentially stalled.

@yarmo @halcek I'm more worried about podcasts moving to siloed systems. For example I can't subscribe to "We Speak CVE" because my client apparently isn't one of the "major podcast directories". https://cve.mitre.org/podcast/
@jautero @halcek yes, one of which is spotify. We are talking about the same phenomenon, I was just more (too?) narrow in the scope of my message.
This is a terrifying trend and I don't see it end well. These silos finally deliver on the promise of making a living with producing podcasts. So, they all flock to the silos.
We should all start new podcasts using the standard open ways to promote decentralization
