@cybette @matrix do you feel any projects will use this as the time to just move their project to matrix or what do you feel keeps projects using IRC in this day and age? Specially with stuff like materix spaces coming and now in beta

I know some projects are considering the move to matrix.

many still stick with IRC because it works everywhere. while Matrix has great features, to fully make use of them you need to run a client like Element, which can be rather resource intensive.

@cybette @matrix those working on old hardware alsop prefer IRC like on my pinebook pro i like to use IRC and for matrix i use gomuks https://github.com/tulir/gomuks
But your correct you need to use element to use most of the new features i just prefer to work in the terminal so will always use IRC and will use Matrix in the terminal as well
