@cybette whats going on the fxtec next and what were your thoughts on ubuntu touch compared to sfos on same device?
@cybette like it a lot when out and about unplugging is good and yet still a way for people to get ahold of me if really needed via a call or sms im on day 30 of being smartphone free
amazing! 👏👏
@cybette not saying ill never own a smartphone ever again just need a tech break and i still have my laptop to go online when needed
oh definitely. such a break is good, I should take one sometime :)
@cybette yeah im on a laptop all day for work that specially on weekends i want a break from tech and i just go bike riding or something fun i can do and social distance still
@cybette @jameshjacksonjr I’d love to get one of those as a backup phone but they’re sorta pricey ngl
@realcaseyrollins @cybette yes it was pricy but cheaper than. Most smartphones and its my main and only phone so was worth it for me cause im not also buying a smartphone on top of it but deff pricey for a second phone
@jameshjacksonjr @cybette Yeah. My primary options for a backup phone atm are either a typical flip phone or an old #BlackBerry.
@realcaseyrollins @cybette whats your primary device?
@jameshjacksonjr @cybette #Samsung Galaxy S10e
@realcaseyrollins @cybette nice device
@jameshjacksonjr @realcaseyrollins
my backup phone is a Nokia 8110 4G. it has more functions/apps than the light phone 2 but the small screen and terrible keypad don't make it fun to use. so it serves the purpose if I want to disengage for a while :)
@cybette @realcaseyrollins how is kai OS?
@jameshjacksonjr @realcaseyrollins
it's decent enough for a feature phone, with html5 apps and is not resource intensive. when I booted up the Nokia just now, I even received a software update. unfortunately the bottleneck in this case is the hardware. the keys on the 8110 are flimsy and prone to miskeys, plus the potato camera takes worse pics than some Nokias from 10-15 years ago. so the few things it's good for are phone calls, very short messages, and maybe using it as a hotspot.
@jameshjacksonjr @realcaseyrollins
on the plus side, it has a removable battery (although the battery life is so good, I'm not sure you'll need to swap batteries regularly).
also a 3.5mm headphone jack to listen to whatever you manage to fit in the 2GB storage, and FM radio!
@cybette @realcaseyrollins i can use either bluetooth headphones or 3.5mm and have 8GB internal storage i use bluetooth ones when listening to podcasts on it when i go for my walks
@jameshjacksonjr @realcaseyrollins
cool! yeah the nokia has BT as well, I just haven't really used it :)
@jameshjacksonjr oh cool, how are you liking it?
