So in 3 emails from the same person in the same thread, I've been addressed as "Mrs Chen", "Ms Chen", & "Mr Chen". I'm aware that my Chinese name looks ambiguous, so why assume gender at all? I'm fine with "person Chen" or "passenger Chen" (appropriate in this context as I was asking about a receipt for train journey) etc.

Funny thing is, in the contact form, I had to select a salutation and the only choices were Mr/Mrs. So I chose Mrs. They couldn't even respect my selection, limited as it is.

nah, I'm more amused by their inconsistency rather than offended. and the whole social obsession with gender and age (past a certain age I'm automagically assumed to be married and a "Mrs")
