End-to-End encryption is one of the good things we have with the current internet and app ecosystems! But it's under constant threat -- be it from EU's #chatcontrol, UK's "online safety bill" or the current renewed "EARN IT" effort in the US: https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2023/04/earn-it-bill-back-again-seeking-scan-our-messages-and-photos ....
anyone of these efforts succeeding would be a dangerous dam break. Let's collectively make sure all these governmental anti-privacy efforts fail!
news from the #hyperbridging frontlines of the currently possible ... why not use your emacs/IRC client to connect to a custom DeltaIRCD server where you can load DC accounts as well? or how about accessing the community channel via ` ssh ssh.masfloss.net -p 2023`? If some entity called "chatbot" crosses your paths and you chat with it: be careful, it's a gpt-ish intelligence also lingering in some channels :)
@lopp me here, but primary on nostr
The EU Commission wants to monitor all the citizens of the European union.
The law proposal is called #chatcontrol – and now is the time to stop it
We took the debate to the streets of Sweden, during the country’s EU-presidency.

Fiat payment networks are done, just not everyone understands it yet.
Those who understand already switched to some kind of internet money.

Most ideologies focus on changing others to achieve their goals, but we only need to change ourselves and choose our peers
Developing, growing, creating loving families is beautiful in itself
It leads to a better society
We don't have to wait for it, it's already available to us
Sharing Web Apps in a chat: Recent releases of Delta Chat (1.30) semi-silently introduced support for "webxdc", a new way to share and run web apps, without leaking any data to third parties. See https://delta.chat/en/2022-06-14-webxdcintro and https://webxdc.org for demos/quickstarts.
Coincidentally 640kb is the current size limit for https://webxdc.org chat-shareable web apps :)
640K ought to be enough for anyone.
@lopp "same same, but differend" :)
"web apps shared in a chat" ... a new way to do web apps without platforms, coins or logins :) https://webxdc.org
the according Delta Chat announcement post has some more details: https://delta.chat/en/2022-06-14-webxdcintro
We compared 20 e-mail providers for use with Delta Chat and some do not provide "ICQ" capabilities ... meaning IDLE/Condstore/Quota features beneficial for instant messaging usability ... more details and results here https://delta.chat/en/2022-01-16-dapsi2blogpost ... and thanks @NGI_DAPSI@twitter.com for funding!
If you haven't read this article please do. I couldn't help but admit to myself that choosing open platforms / specs like #email and #DeltaChat was the best decision ever 📧

Centralised messenger Signal has just announced that they are making part of their server software closed source. They claim it is to fight spam, but by using closed source they make it impossible for outsiders to verify the truth. This is worrying.
We really, really need a fully open, decentralised alternative to Signal.
There are several alternatives being developed, please support them:
Download on Demand, faster and more convenient account switching, improved stickers, improved defense active active attacks and that's not even all :) The Android and iOS releases are rolling out to the stores and desktop also soon arrives. https://delta.chat/en/2021-11-17-releases
Love the "login with DeltaChat" feature on @delta #Discourse support server.
Can we have this feature in all open source discourse servers please?
