@schmittlauch @txt_file Session is maybe the most promising nowadays. It's the only messenger that truely respects your privacy. There is no other out of the box solution out yet that comes even close to . I use Session exclusively on daily basis for a while now and it didn't make me a nazi yet, even there is a "SS" in Session. 🤦‍♀️

@resist1984 I see. That's the way it is, obviously. The big players won't let anyone play anywhere without control, disruption or manipulation. This is (on a more abstract level).

@resist1984 Hashtag culture will maybe adapt to this situation and nobody in the fediverse will hopefully search for Google hashtags anymore over time. I'd suggest to use and so on anyway. These hashtags will never been used by Google themselves.

@danie10 As I always say: any day keeps big brother away. Thanks to all the great people who work hard for our privacy!

The German Corona Virus Android app has been forked to F-Droid to work on phones without Google services

Thanks to Alexander Goeres for posting about this on the MeWe Social network group for Coronavirus Info.
Many folks run phones without Google services (newer Huawei phones and custom ROM users) and the power of open source allows apps to be modified and re-used, so we have this app now able to work without any Google login or services required.
It also shows that apps requiring location and other data can indeed work without needing Google services, as the drop-in compatible microg implementation is used instead. If more app developers did this, we'd have more freedom for Android users.

At work I'm forced to use Google Chrome for testing. To my surprise (or not) I discovered Crome was scanning the entire drive for "harmul software" and calling home with it. They just can't stay away from user's data do they.

@session is my daily driver messenger. I love it. However, I'm switching phones quite often and I'd love to be able to restore the backup file. Is there a schedule for implementing this feature?
