am I the only one who thinks this thing with being removed could cause the Project to cease to exist along with anything that depends on it? (Including almost every distro on this planet)

If the goes away, then won't the primary source of funding for the Project disappear? Someone please explain to me what we will do to replace the utilities and libraries developed by the Project once it is gone.

(Please note I am not trying to support or disavow Stallman)

I am NOT speaking on behalf of the viper-browser project maintainer, but I would love to see that project succeed. If you have a few bucks to spare and you use the viper-browser project, then I recommend sending a few bucks to the project maintainer using the liberapay link found on the viper-browser github page: github.com/LeFroid/Viper-Brows

If you need or want Zoom on the Raspberry Pi 4/400 or some other ARM device, then please let the Zoom developers know on this post:

typing this on a raspberry pi 4 (I also have a pi 400 with Manjaro as well) with Manjaro ARM mate, it works like a charm with a slight overclock of course. As I have been able to prove to myself over the past couple weeks, ARM computers on the level of the Pinebook Pro and the Raspberry Pi 4 are definitely enough in terms of computing power for my daily-driving needs.

The #PinePhone modem (yes, the modem) can now run Linux kernel 5.10 ( @postmarketOS )... we're sure many of you know where this is heading :)
Massive thanks to biktorgj, konradybcio and others.

@kde@mastodon.technology I am very impressed with how well Plasma 5 works on both the pi 400 and rk3399 devices like the RockPro64 and Pinebook Pro. Keep up the good work. I wrote a short blog post detailing my experience with ARM computers so far, but I am thinking that I should write a post going into detail about just how well Plasma 5 works on these low-powered computers.

I am going to be writing a series of articles in the coming weeks and months where I document my experience using ARM devices for day-to-day computing.

here is the first one: stormyknight.xyz/view.php?file

posted another article about client-server workloads on my website... I guess I should prepare to receive hate-mail for this one. I hope the article provides a ever-so-slightly different viewpoint from the industry standard for web development practices.

Are you tired of your computer not being owned by you, the computer user? If so, then I may have a suggestion in the form of an article: stormyknight.xyz/view.php?file

Microsoft has seemingly made an oopsie with Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. See my article on the subject for my take on the matter: stormyknight.xyz/view.php?file

I have my new website up, and I have already uploaded two articles. Should anyone wish to read those articles, you can find them under the articles page on stormyknight.xyz

yes that is http not https, I don't require you to enter any information at all on my site. If you wish to send me a comment on an article, then please send me an email (located on the contact page).

A comic strip. About a computer virus. The world needs more stuff like that right now. (The comic, not the virus.)

Oh, if you want more nerdy stuff like this -- and to talk with other nerds in a politics (and troll-free) community... Clicky-clicky.

@elementary I am thinking about taking on the task of creating Elementary OS 6 builds for the RockPro64 (an SBC offered by Pine64). Would there be any issues with me doing this? (I don't think I will distribute the builds unless you want me to though). I love the idea of using Elementary OS 6 on my Pinebook Pro, but I would like to be able to use it on the RockPro64 as well.

@elementary Typing this using Olifant on my Pinebook Pro from an Elementary OS 6 preview build. (to anyone who wishes to attempt this, do so knowing that EOS 6 is unfinished software so there are bound to be incompatiblities with EOS 5 apps)

The builds may not have the ability to install apps from the AppCenter yet (probably for good reason), but because these apps are open source, there is no reason that I can't go grab the source code of my favourite app and compile it ;)

Congrats to our friends in the @ubuntu@twitter.com community on their latest release! We’re super excited to build the next elementary OS on such an amazing foundation 😘

@elementary thanks for the cool operating system. I did have to make a few tweaks to get it working correctly with software that isn't in the elementary os ecosystem (such as installing the old appindicator wingpanel extension), however, the experience since then has been amazing.

Now I just wish I could come up with some ideas for some useful software to publish to the AppCenter. Any ideas?

for those on Elementary OS that miss being able to use tootle to use mastodon, here is a git repo of a tootle fork that fixes it: github.com/cleac/tootle

bleakgrey (the developer of tootle) appears to be working on a refactor of their version. I hope that it goes well for them.
