So I got a Microsoft Publisher file (.pub) today that I need to view (but not edit). It is a proprietory format and I do not have MS Publisher. However, both LibreOffice draw and Scribus can read .pub (I think reverse engineering had made it possible). However my document only shows two title rows of text, sheet background colour and the frame where the title is and rest of frame is empty - same result in Libre and Scribus. Open i text editor, tells it is Punlisher 3.0. I got the sender to 1/2
send again in pdf. So I have the content now and can progress. But the pdf is not identical to the pub, not same title, so I guess the sender for any reason had another file with same content but not exported from pub. I am curious how the pub-file looks in his sw, and why I cannot see it. Well, I will not struggle and spend time further but instead focus on my mission to read the content I do have in pdf. But it is irritating with non-open, proprietory, formats. #opensource
