Don't be fooled: Google's latest announcement on third-party cookies doesn't mean it will stop tracking you. We’ve built a new site to tell you whether or not you are a test subject in Google’s latest tracking experiment: amifloced.org/

What’s clear from the reaction to this most recent privacy policy change is that WhatsApp shares much more information with Facebook than many users were aware, and has been doing it since 2016. eff.org/deeplinks/2021/01/its-

Copyright should not be a fast-track to getting speech removed that you do not like. The law is meant to encourage creativity by giving artists a limited period of exclusive rights to their creations. It is not a loophole to be exploited by authorities. eff.org/deeplinks/2021/02/cops

Dear Mastodon, we're ~60 followers away from 12K! Can you help us get there?

Help by spreading the word that:

🔵 Privacy is a human right.

🔵 Tracking & surveillance are widespread on the internet.

🔵 Tor is a nonprofit that can help you take back your privacy online.

Now that the new OnionShare has better command line support, I just wrote a guide explaining how to run your own anonymous Tor dropbox on a Raspberry Pi. Check it out: micahflee.com/2021/02/onionsha

is the world's most popular operating system. and @fdroidorg@mastodon.technology have demonstrated its possible to build FSF-free and DFSG-free OS based on Android and F-Droid. Replicant and F-Droid do not yet meet the standards for being fully free software yet. Both communities are working towards that core goal. The only limiting factor is developer time to make it happen. So F-Droid and Replicant (and free Android ROMs) should be designated as High Priority Projects fsf.org/blogs/community/commit

We've identified two new, easy data points for , and are already applying them to @fdroidorg@mastodon.technology They can be added to @exodus Looking forward to seeing what others do with this! guardianproject.info/2020/12/1

I'm starting work on the "Popularity Contest" idea for @fdroidorg that will provide statistics on app usage as part of @guardianproject's project, follow progress at gitlab.com/fdroid/fdroidclient

Thanks to #FreeSoftware developers, the German #CoronaWarnApp for tracing #COVID19 risk contacts is available on @fdroidorg without any Google dependencies. This not only fosters software freedom, but also sets the ground for innovative features.
