The fact that I have to have a full webkit process and actual JS running just to view an epub is really infuriating.

Can't anything just be a ruddy DOCUMENT format anymore?!?

I don't think calibre's ebook-viewer needs that. There are other readers too. Haven't found a good one yet to fit a tiling wm, though. (ie one with vim keybindings)

Also, epubs are really just .zip archives full of HTML in disguise; you can harness that!

Just figured out that zathura can open epubs!! No webkit!! No JS!!
