Look, I don't know what the alternative looks like, but maybe we should aim to have an educational system that doesn't result in millions of people having recurring nightmares about forgetting to study for an exam for the rest of their entire lives???

Seems like a bad outcome

All I'm saying is that if someone was like "I will teach you what cos, sin and tan are but you will have reoccurring nightmares about exams and classes every week for the rest of your life" I would say "no thanks"

@folduptoys The only reason mass schooling is even tolerated at all is because its victims are children and young people, i.e. demographics whose lives society believes don't really matter.

@adamasnemesis
So much this. We chose to homeschool not because it's convenient or easy (it's not), but because our own mass education experiences were traumatizing. So why would we put our kids through that?

Add in the weekly mass shootings at American schools, and to hell with that noise. (Yes, I recognize that I have the privilege to make that choice.)
