The closest my Thanksgiving family table came to violence this year was when an uncle suggested that Elon Musk must know what he is doing at Twitter because Tesla and SpaceX are such great successes. It is a lucky thing for him that he is extraordinarily good at cooking turkey.
@evacide How did you respond? I have heard this too, from people who should know better.
@fivetonsflax I informed him that Tesla and SpaceX both have elaborate management structures in place to "handle" the delicate man-baby that is supposedly in charge and that even if he is good at managing Tesla or SpaceX, that these are not skills that translate to a nuanced understanding of advertising revenue models or the vagaries of platform moderation. Then we went back to talking about the antics of backyard raccoons.
