During a test run in June, an train has reached a top speed of 405 km/h on the Erfurt–Leipzig/Halle high-speed railway. It provided "valuable data for maintaining and upgrading high-speed lines, as well as advancing high-speed train technology". Typically ICE services operate at a maximum speed of 300 km/h.
