@WooShell Ooooh you're right about the raised eyebrow about "freely distributable". I hadn't noticed Sawyer's self declaration before. I might be wrong then: theregister.com/2024/08/06/wor

@WooShell His .zip comes with DOSBox-X, pre-configured for a Windows portable application execution, and 1000~ pages of scans from the WS manuals. I imagine that inflated it quite a bit. :)

@nevali @leyrer The world needs saving from MS Office formats more than anything else I think hehe.

is now freely distributable and Robert J. Sawyer has worked hard to create a .zip with both WS and DOSBox-X already configured for running after unzipping.

sfwriter.com/ws7.htm

It comes configured for a Windows system with local C:/ drive. You need to put the WS folder in the Zip in your local C:/ root path, and then DB-X will auto-mount and run WS automatically.

Mac and Linux users will need their own DB-X and to edit the .conf for mounting to Unixy paths.

From 1992 to 1997, Apple shipped over 40 Macintosh models wearing a Performa badge. I'm writing about all of them on @512pixels during August.

Welcome to Performa Month!

is the coolest Commodore classic computers emulation sim-suite! It's brilliantly skeuomorphic. Picked it up today and gave it a quick whirl: youtube.com/watch?v=uQtWXXYjBv

@darth_hideout I think they meant 70 in in our RL TV years and I goofed. They said "spanning 7 different decades". I made the mistake of equating that with 70 years because I thought Dr Who started in the 50s but it was actually 1963. My bad. :D

Ok this made me cry. A celebration of 70 years of space family and friendships. *wipes a tear* I would have bawled outright if it was Doctor Who x Star Trek x Firefly. :D

You're on my crew. o7

I LOVE this messaging. Community manager of encourages people to take a break if they need to. They "can always come home, even a year later" etc. If only the community could be this warm and accepting, and not call any urge to take a break a "dead game, make Destiny 3" signal: youtube.com/watch?v=ay3pqYZf_j
