Exactly my fear too. This move normalises privacy-intrusive tech which is far less respected by rivals in the first place.
Just take a look at Google's or Meta's products.
This is a very dangerous precedent and in my opinion Apple should completely roll it back and acknowledge its mistake. That way this dystopian cyberpunk future we're running towards can may be avoided.
@ozu one thing people should start doing is to declare when they bring an Apple device into someone else's home. For example, if you're going to visit a friend for dinner, bringing an Apple device with you is quite a hostile act and should be recognized as such. If you "own" an Apple device (you don't really own it), have the decency to not force that disgusting thing onto other people. Leave it at home where it does less harm. Shut it off (although Apple will likely not let you turn it off).
