This thread might get long and techy but bear with me.
I don't like 'big tech' and use FOSS wherever possible.
I don't have a lot of money and try to be as frugal and 'green' as possible.
I've had 3 smartphones on PAYG over approx 15 years, I only get a new one when the old really can't be fixed.

So I've de-googled it as much as possible by removing Google apps and using alt search engines etc.
When I got it and needed to register it to use Google Play I created a Gmail account in a fake name just for the phone.
I don't use Google Pay.

Is there a FOSS alternative payment system? Preferably something I can pre-load with a fixed amount of credit? I really don't want to give my bank/card details to Google especially on a phone that doesn't 'belong' to me. I wasn't to keep the real me and the phone user account separate.

Basic problem would seem to be that it's very unlikely a high street retailer or car park operator will have a Taler account, they'll want me to use Google or Apple payments.
