@controlfreak @leighelse this is a very good development. I think this has a good chance to get stronger, because the argument that government functions should maintain sovereignty is something that nobody will argue against. It is not a left-vs-right political issue, it is more an issue of the kind that once you understand the issue, you know that free software is the way to go.

@eliasr @controlfreak The rub is in "once you understand". You can't make someone understand something when their career is dependent on them not understanding it (paraphrased). As corporate donations to major political parties become more significant in funding those parties (and therefore shaping policies) we can expect reduced willingness to understand the unarguable if it might reduce future funding.
