I wanted to see if ChatGPT could put me out of the job, so I asked it to write a funny fake fact. To my surprise, it literally just plagiarized one of my own facts. Nearly word for word. I'd say my position remains safe for now.

@lowqualityfacts glorified plagiarism is what that system is all about.

If an individual plagiarizes something, that's considered bad and they may get punished.

If a huge organization does it systematically and for profit, somehow it's not considered bad anymore but it is apparently very impressive "innovation" or something.

it's long been the case that fraud that's not caught benefits the perpetrator. some think there's merit in successfully defrauding others.
