@web3isgreat Aren’t all people involved in “crypto“ at this point just scammers and grifters?

No, I don't think so, although it can be tempting to assume that because there are certainly many scams.
The topic of how to handle private digital payments is an important one, especially as we approach a future where traditional cash will no longer be available.
I recommend the #MoneroTalk podcast, lots of interesting interviews there: https://www.monerotalk.live/
@eliasr Why will traditional cash not be available? This is another thing with crypto enthusiasts I don't understand. It's like they're trying to prepare for some Mad Max-type world, but in that case there wouldn't be a global network architecture required to perform these transactions.
@aphistic I found these about UK and US:
"Cashless society draws closer with only one in six payments now in cash": https://www.theguardian.com/business/2021/jun/16/cashless-society-draws-closer-with-only-one-in-six-payments-now-in-cash
"Americans Using Cash Less Often; Foresee Cashless Society": https://news.gallup.com/poll/397718/americans-using-cash-less-often-foresee-cashless-society.aspx
Everything gets more scary if we think about China where the government is likely to soon force use of a state-controlled digital currency connected to some "social credit" system. An efficient way for the state to control people, tracking suspicious purchases etc.
