@PINE64 Please don't do this. There is no positive benefit to crypto, it's all negative.

@PINE64 I disagree with @benpocalypse here. In my view there can be clear benefits to having the store accept cryptocurrency, mainly privacy, but that depends on the kind of cryptocurrency you use. Another advantage is that the store's day-to-day operation can function independently of banks.

But why have you chosen the "USD Coin" specifically? Why not Monero (XMR) which would likely be better for privacy?

@eliasr @PINE64 @benpocalypse What privacy? Any transactions are going to be tied to a name, mailing address, etc. Plus import documents depending on your country.

> What privacy?

Privacy in terms of not letting banks and/or credit card companies know what you are doing.

You are right that there is also information related to delivery address that one could also worry about, but each piece of information matters.

@PINE64 @benpocalypse

@eliasr @PINE64 @benpocalypse If that's a concern, there are really easy ways to obscure your identity through payment information. The one that immediately comes to mind is Visa/Mastercard gift cards. If you are really concerned about a paper trail, they can even be bought with cash.

@n2burns

Thanks, such gift cards is an interesting possibility.

Still, physically going to a not-too-local store to buy a separate gift card for each purchase is pretty inconvenient. So there is still an advantage with cryptocurrency, in my view.

Then there is also the issue of censorship resistance, allowing the store to function independently.
