@anon_4601 @EUCommission IIRC Signal server code is also open-source (which is why there were some Signal forks). They even do some trusted execution stuff, supposedly allowing people to verify that their servers run the same code as published in their repo. They just don't support you using your own server with mainstream Signal.

Oops, you're totally right! It was definitely a brain glitch on my end. 😅
My brain probably just rebelled and refused to mark it as open source... lol.
I guess because we often discuss how the service is centralized, owned by the US foundation, and relies heavily on Amazon (AWS) and Google infrastructure to run its servers, which contradicts the goal of true digital independence, I got mixed up...
But it is true: the client code is 100% Open Source. You're right and I'm correcting my post immediately!
