Bonjour, Hallo, Здравейте, Γειά σου, Ciao, Dia duit, Labas,… 👋

Today is the European Day of Languages. And this year, we mark 25 years of celebrating multilingualism in our Union. 🥳

Across the EU, we:
🌍 Speak 24 official languages
🎉 Embrace 60 regional languages spoken by some 40 million people
🚀 Have 3 in 5 Europeans speaking a foreign language

Multilingualism is a core European value. We are united in our diversity!

@EUCommission It is important to restart the discussion on a European lingua franca, a language that does not belong to any nation. We need it to strengthen unity among EU citizens. Promoting newspapers, magazines and books in two (or more) languages could help EU citizens to understand each other better. There will be no true Union without unity among citizens, which could be achieved if there is a movement of ideas from the bottom up and a lingua franca could fuels this process.

@FrankieBeast @EUCommission "European lingua franca" is literally French, but I know what you mean. ;)

I gotta learn Esperanto some day.
