@GrapheneOS Does disabling NFC have any benefit like longer battery life? Does it power down the NFC hardware? Does it stop or suspend some process? Does it decrease the attack surface of NFC?
(Of course this is all assuming that screen unlock is required to use NFC.)
@elgregor It reduces attack surface and saves power. It definitely stops it doing transmit/receive and saves most of the power it uses. It goes into a suspend mode similar to Wi-Fi and cellular and is still powered, it just doesn't drain a significant amount. NFC doesn't drain much power even when enabled though. We have NFC and Bluetooth disabled by default unlike the stock Pixel OS and AOSP.
