Our new investigation in WIRED today shows the danger of Google's huge RTB security problem.
We easily obtained Google RTB segment data about US national security personnel from a data broker -- despite posing as a foreign company that fetes Russian troops our fake website!

As @dell.bsky.social and @dmehro write, the thousands of segments included people at companies registered with the State Department to manufacture missiles and space launch vehicles.

Google has known that its RTB system leaks everybody's data like a sieve since at least as early as 2014. Google CEO Pichai is implicated directly.

here are many examples of shell RTB companies hoovering up RTB data for intel. Google's RTB data free-for-all is a goldmine for hostile intelligence services.

@johnnyryan @epicprivacy And of course instead of solving the root cause (invasive data collection), US will instead solve the symptom (ease of access to data on people considered important to US government).
