You should be conscripting everyone 18-65 but this is not all combat roles. Can a 60 year old repair a T-80? Why yes - probably the best qualified person to do that. Those that serve behind the lines free up those able and fit enough and who want to, to go kill orcs. But then it should not just be Ukrainians fighting, I know there are foreign volunteers - I mean SAS.
@nf3xn Ukraine already has soldiers who are supposed to fight, but can't because they didn't receive weapons. Ukraine was promised more weapons than it received. Training is also a serious bottleneck; Ukraine can't train as many soldiers as it would like to. NATO help is invaluable here.
Eventually, Ukraine might find itself in a situation where it has enough weapons and training capacity, but not enough conscripted men. This is not today though.
@elgregor Indeed he alluded to that. Ukraine are holding ground with a tenth of the men. We are training 100k every six months I think. How which is cheaper to give 1 million browning plus ammo or one stormshadow. The irony is at the moment the ordinance that kills most Russians in Ukraine was supplied by Russia. F16s have been delayed due to lack of parts and pilots. We could own the entire airspace over Russia. Do we want to win or not.
